After a break of 18 years, Perth Archdiocese hosted the biannual RCIA National Conference last week 6-9 Oct. The event attracted 130 delegates from all over Australia and New Zealand, including many priests and seminarians. Over 4 days, the delegates attended presentations; shared and learned from each other. The Willetton Parish was represented by 8 members of our RCIA team, making us the largest parish team at the conference. With the prayers and support of our parish family; and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, may we continue to share our Catholic faith with many new adult members.
Another T4C Camp has come and gone – and it did not disappoint! 22 teens from our parish spent 3 days (30 Sep - 2 Oct) at Bickley Camp in Orange Grove, having lots of fun and becoming spiritually enriched at the same time. We are grateful to Fr Thai for making time for us this weekend. Our gratitude also goes to the Youth Mission Team of young volunteers who ran the camp for us. Leading up to and during the 3 days, these group of young people planned, facilitated, setup, cooked, cleaned-up and most importantly, inspired our teens. May God bless you all!
The photos of the camp are now available to view at our parish photo album at: http://willettoncatholicparish.org.au/parish-photo-album/
Spring is here and we celebrated in style! By popular demand, we brought back the Fine Line, the band who performed at our Autumn Dance at Orana last year – and they certainly did not disappoint. A full house of 250 parishioners danced the night away; a number of them walked away with attractive raffle prizes. It was indeed a great parish event for the young and not-so-young to savour. An event like this does not happen without months of hard work from our friends at the T4C ministry and beyond. We are overwhelmed by their generosity in offering their time and talent. We also like to thank our parish family for attending and supporting the event. God bless you all!
Holly was one of the 8 adults received into the Church on Easter Vigil Mass this year. Her decision to convert to the Catholic faith was inspired by her encounter with the Sacraments, including Marriage and Baptism.

About 100 parishioners and volunteers enjoyed a Bash & Bingo afternoon on Sunday, 20 Sep 2015. It was great to see the parish community coming together and enjoying a great occasion! Many thanks to all the coordinators; and special thanks to all the volunteers that help make the afternoon a great success. All proceeds goes to supporting our 33 young people and volunteers to attending the Australian Catholic Youth Festival in Adelaide at the end of the year. Thank you!
As part of the celebration for the Parish 30 years anniversary, about 140 parishioners attended a Parish Retreat on 27 Jun 2015, reflecting on Pope Francis’ “Living the Joy of the Gospel”, presented by Sr Margaret Scharf. Special thanks to the Parish Ministries who provided such a generous amount of delicious food to share and all the organisers and helpers who assisted throughout the morning. The feedback received was very encouraging and as Sr Margaret delighted us with her thoughtful and often, witty reflection on the Exhortation, Evangelii Gaudium. She invited us to ponder how we can be “bold and creative” in our call to be evangelisers as we “go forth, be involved, supportive, bear fruit and rejoice” in our community.
As part of the celebration for the Parish 30 years anniversary, about 100 parishioners and friends attended a Superheroes Movie Night on 26 June (Friday). It is pleasing to see so many young and not-so-young having such a great time, enjoying the double features of “Big Hero 6″ and “Guardians of the Galaxy”. Special pat on the back for all the teens who brought their friends along. Those new to our parish would have got a sense of what a vibrant parish we have. And who says evangelisation work is boring?
The parish community enjoyed a fun- and action-filled Social Fun Night in the parish hall on 22 Nov 2014. Many parishioners showcased talents that we did not they had, entertaining the crowd with dances, jokes, skits, magic tricks and much more. To view the event photos, please visit the parish photo album.
Our teens have begun their journey toward the Australian Catholic Youth Festival 2015, to be held in Adelaide 3-5 Dec 2015. Over the coming months there will be camp, fund-raising and other planning events. Stay tuned!
